Carter Cave Dovetail |
|
Size: 4 1/16" long.
Provenance: Scioto County, Ohio.
Condition: Good. This would be one of the great Ohio dovetails if not for some tip damage on one side of tip. Note: I have gone back and forth on whether the area on the base is damage or made the way it appears. I can take many closeups of the area, but it is a really hard call. You will not see nicer Carter Cave material. This is the whole point of the flakes you find in a field and say "Why can't I find a point made of this?".

Indiana Green Drill |
|
Size: 3 9/16" long.
Provenance: Clinton County, Indiana.
Condition: Super. One of the most pleasing color schemes I have seen from Indiana Green. Highly contrasting white/green stripes. My guess is that it is resharpened down from a giant sized Adena point. Jump on this one.

Turkey Tail Knife |
|
Size: 3 15/16" long x 1 9/16" long x very thin
Provenance: Found in Southern Michigan very near the Indiana State Line.
Condition: Super. I guess you call this one un-notched, but it has two great twists on either end that would have facilitated hafting much like a notch. Dark red ochre like staining on the rind ends. Extremely thin. Cache quality piece but unbroken.

Hornstone Lance |
|
Size: 3 1/2" long
Provenance: Found by Randy Kauth in Hamilton County Ohio.
Condition: Excellent. I have had several pieces of similar form and I class them as Late-Paleo. This one exhibits an almost unseen stem and side grinding. Nice old piece for the money.

Blue/Black/Tan Bifurcate |
|
Size: 2 5/8” long
Provenance: Central Ohio.
Condition: Excellent. Bordering on bird-poo Mercer, this is a great combo of black/blue/white/tan. This piece is probably classed as an early archaic Kirk Bifurcate. Not looking too bad after 9000 years in the ground.

Sonora Short Stem Archaic |
|
Size: 3 1/8” long
Provenance: Alamo, TN. This is located in Crockett County.
Condition: Super. This is made from Sonora Flint that shows a white chalky cortex on the base, then quickly goes from red to tan to grey/blue. This is a great form and piece. I am not entirely sure what to call it, so I just described its features.

Hopewell |
|
Size: 3 3/8" long
Provenance: Butler County, Ohio. Reinhart Collection.
Condition: Excellent. Nice high grade Indiana Hornstone. Point has a slight median ridge on one side and flat on the backside. When I see this feature, I believe the piece was used as a knife.

Two-Tone Coshocton Dovetail |
|
Size: 5 5/8" long
Provenance: Clark County, Ohio. Purchased by a good friend of mine in the late 1980's at a farm sale. He had the piece restored by renowned restorer Jim Beckman of Dayton, Ohio.
Condition: Restored Base. I don't I have ever seen such a stark contract in Coshocton flint. I have seen many pieces made from both colors, but never on the same piece. Obviously special to the early archaic knapper who made this whopper dove. Buy a real one with some restoration and save your money from the freshly made coa'd junk on the market today.

Bifurcated Pinetree |
|
Size: 2" long
Provenance: No find information. My guess is North to Central Kentucky. X: McElvoy.
Condition: Super. You don't see many bifurcated pinetrees. Super Archaic flaking throughout the piece and a nice no-brainer patination. I am not sure of the material, but it is a very high and I almost want to say it is an olive green Carter Cave.

Flint Ridge Hopewells |
|
Size: 2 1/4" each
Provenance: Central Ohio. X: Charles "Modoc" Smith Collection. Both of these pieces are pictured in the limited auction flier from 9/18/1983. I hope you understand the importance of this provenance.
Condition: Super. A few minor nicks, but the material and the classic Hopewell forms are superior. It helps that they are no brainer authentic. I would really like to keep these as a pair, so email me for pricing and I will work with you to keep them together.
Price: $125 each or $225 for pair |
