Northern Kentucky Hardin

Size: 2 9/16" long x 1 1/2" wide

Provenance: Found by Dick Ackman in Northern Kentucky near Alexandria. One of the few Hardin finds I am aware of in the area.

Condition: Perfect. This blade has some nice beveling, and excellent flaking. I am not 100% sure of the material, but I believe it is local. I would describe it as a high quality tan/white glossy chert.

Price: $200

Unfractured Base Decatur

Size: 3 1/16" long

Provenance: Wabash River Valley Indiana

Condition: Super. The unfractured form of Decatur is the rarer of the two forms. This one is made from some great fossil included material with tons of mineralization. Barely a nick on the piece after 8000 years.

Price: $200

Flint Ridge Hopewell

Size: Maybe an eyelash shy of 2" long

Provenance: Came from a collection in Michigan that was in storage for 50+ years. This is an Ohio point.

Condition: Excellent. Great translucent flint ridge. Absolutely classic Hopewell form. This could be a very early and large true arrowhead.

Price: $50

Curved Pinetree

Size: 3" long.

Provenance: Southern Kentucky

Condition: Excellent. The blade exhibits a twisted resharpening pattern that really adds to the piece. Material may be a heavily patinated Indiana Hornstone, but I am not sure. This pinetree grades out in the upper end of the type.

Price: $200

Carter Cave Paddle Drill

Size: 2 9/16" long.

Flint Ridge Mini-Heavy Duty

Size: 1 7/8" long

Provenance: Came from a collection in Michigan that was in storage for 50+ years. This is an Ohio point.

Condition: Perfect. All the classic features in a mini-size. I have not seen another quite like this and made from such exceptional translucent material. Basally thinned, serrated and a half diamond cross section.

Price: $65

Southern Kentucky Bifurcated Kirk

Size: 2 3/4" long.

Provenance: Southern Kentucky near Lake Cumberland on private land.

Condition: Excellent. I believe this type is a localized kirk form that is only found in Southern Kentucky. Every correct example I have seen comes from this area.

Mini-Kirk Breathitt Flint

Size: 1 5/8" long.

Provenance: Cincinnati, Ohio. Hamilton County

Condition: Super. This is a sweet little point. Very thin, very well made for Breathitt. It is the black color with tan mixed in. This is a great mini.

Fort Payne Benton

Boyles Stillwell

Price: $50

Unfractured Base Decatur

Size: 2" long x 1 3/8" wide x very thin

Provenance: Found by Les Hatton near Lebanon, Kentucky. Marion County.

Condition: Excellent. Super thin and fine. I believe this is a light blue Sonora Flint, but I am not positive. Could be what is called Kentucky Blue. This point can go into Decatur frame.

Price: $150

Super Thin Pinetree

Size: 2" long x 1 5/8" wide

Provenance: Northern Kentucky found by Dick Ackman.

Condition: Super. This one is extremely thin for the type and nearly perfect. A very small tip nick takes it down to a 9. Local material used on this point.

Price: $150

Dovetail Drill

Size: 1 11/16" long.

Provenance: Ohio River near Owen County, KY.

Condition: Good. This is a really high grade material that I believe is Flint Ridge. Excessive patination makes it a little dificult to decipher. Heavily ground base.

Price: $15

Bifurcated Base Kirk

Size: 2 5/8" long.

Provenance: Information lost to time...

Condition: Excellent. Nice early archaic example that I would class as thinner than most of the type. Opposite side that isn't pictured has some caliche like deposits, so this could be an old cave find from Kentucky.

Price: $100

Black Paddle Drill

Size: 2 3/4" long.

Provenance: Eastern Ohio

Condition: Good. Strange curve to the top of this drill. I wonder if it was knapped out for some type of work that required an angle. Jet black Mercer material.

Price: $25

Blue Harrodsburg Big Sandy

Size: 1 3/4" long x 1 1/4" wide.

Provenance: Munfordville, Kentucky.

Condition: Excellent. Blue Harrodsburg is on my short list for favorite materials and #1 for looking at under magnification. Every little speck and dot is a fossil. Piece has a little bit of tip damage, but still a solid 7-8.

Price: $80

Serrated Stillwell
