Big Sandy Henry County Ohio |
|
Size: 2 3/8" long x 1 1/4" wide.
Provenance: Henry County Ohio. Old tag that is said to come from Ed Payne collection.
Condition: Super. I am not entirely sure of material on this piece. It is colorful enough to be Flint Ridge, but there are some fossils in it. I am going with Boyles chert, but others may call it Ridge. This arrowhead looks like the symbol for the Ohio Arch Society, and is nearly perfect.

Big Collection from Montana |
|
Size: Varies
Provenance: Single family collection put together many years ago out of Montana. More details to the buyer.
Condition: Super. This collection has a bit of everything you would expect to see from a Montana collection. Mostly obsidian, but there are some rare agates represented. Many pendants, including one with 36 tallies. There is even a polished stone spoon. This is a rare opportunity to own a classic collection with a super mount.

Provenance: Labeled as SA-1, May 8, 1955. Illinois
Condition: Excellent. This is a classic Paleo uniface with large unifacial areas combined with fine pressure flaking. I would consider this a nice addition to a Paleo tool frame.

Flint Ridge Hopewell - Water Find |
|
Size: 4 3/16" long
Provenance: Came from an estate collection that was in storage for 50+ years. Entrican, Michigan.
Condition: Super. This piece is a personal favorite. Awesome color Flint Ridge that is contrasted by a deep creek stain and layers of mineralization. When I ask non-collectors to draw what they picture as an arrowhead, I get this shape almost every time.

Highly Beveled Thebes |
|
Size: 2 1/4" long.
Provenance: Purchased so long ago, I can't remember. I believe it was found around Piqua, Ohio, but I am really not sure.
Condition: Super. This piece is so steeply beveled that it actually flattens out at the tip. The ears are missing b/c they were resharpened off. There is no damage. Super high grade pink, white, tan and grey material (flintridge?). Highly ground base.

Wayne County, Indiana Blade |
|
Size: 2 13/16" long x 1 7/8" wide
Provenance: Earl Townsend Jr. Collection. Pictured in one of the Hothem Midwest Series, but I can't remember which volume.
Condition: Super. It would be real easy to call this a Woodland period cache blade, but I don't believe it is. This one is made with a much higher degree of skill. It is super thin and fine. It even has one edge with a bevel. I won't even attempt to class its time period except to say Pre-Woodland.

Condition: Super. I consider this to be one of the 5 best bifurcates I have ever owned. It has everything: size, form, color/material, serrations, condition....

Sedalia/Neb Hill Group |
|
Size: 4 1/8" for longest, 3" shortest
Provenance: Several are labeled with the county in Illinois.
Condition: All excellent. The burnt orange piece may be the earlier form, but the rest I am sure are Middle Archaic Sedalia types. All are nice lances with good size and condition.

Morganfield Kentucky - Beaver Lake? |
|
Size: 2 1/2" long
Provenance: Old India ink that says Morganfield KY
Condition: Good. The ears are clipped a little on each side, but the overall form is present. The pictured side is almost unifaced in areas and it creates a very thin and deadly piece. I am pretty sure on the Beaver Lake typology, but will leave the debate open.

Hopewell - Scioto County |
|
Size: 3 3/16" long x 1 5/8" wide.
Provenance: Scioto County Ohio. 7/64. This is one from the Martin Bauer collection and I assume it was found by Bauer on his farm based upon the location and date.
Condition: Excellent. This is a nice larger size Hopewell made from either patinated Flint Ridge or higher grade heat treated local flint. I don't expect this one to last long.
